Top 10 Home Improvement Tips Every Home Owner Should Know! Tip #5

Over the next few weeks I am going to do a count down of the Top 10 Tips Every Home Owner Should Know!

It doesn't matter if you've bought a newly built home,or a fixer upper—owning your own place brings out the home improvement itch in us all (or at least requires us to do necessary repairs and maintenance tasks). Here is the sixth tip and advice to help turn your dwelling place into a better home.

Tip #5
 Get the Right Tools

You can't really improve your home much with just your bare hands (you'll need a multi-tool at least!). Equip your toolbox  with the essential tools for any minor repair or major project, such as basic plumbing tools. Don't forget your smart phone might be the best DIY tool in your kit, though, and, when all else fails, there's duct tape.

Tip #6

Find Inspiration for Your Next Home Project

Pinterest is your friend, homeowners. As is Houzz, This Old House and BGH. Zillow Diggs is pretty neat because it not only shows you project photos, but cost estimates and contractors as well. You can also binge watch HGTV on Netflix, but I'm warning you, you may never leave the house again!! Know what you want and how you want it to look!

Top 10 Home Improvement Tips Every Home Owner Should Know! Tip #7

We are back with the next tip every home owner should know!

Do your own Homework

Big projects or small, probably all of us could stand to learn some decent home repair or home improvement skills. Learn Bob Villa-worthy skills and help others at the same time by volunteering in your church or around your community. Turn to great reading resources and try starter projects too. If you get stuck on a project, Call Kevin with KevLar Handyman & Home Improvements to lend an expert hand.

     Decide to DIY or Not
Even if you're a weekend warrior with a well-stocked workshop, not all home improvement projects are suitable to do yourself (or at least, without the help of a professional). Know your limits, start small if you're a beginner, and then keep calm and DIY on (if you so wish). Or Call Kevin today to get help on your home projects!! Better to have a professional then end up like these guys:)

CHRISTmas Time!!

Tis the season to be handy. As the holiday season swiftly approaches, KevLar Handyman & Home Improvements is providing customers with useful tips and services for "decking the halls." Kevin Larson, owner in Lincoln, NE said it is best to start preparing for the season early.

KevLar Handyman & Home Improvements is Lincoln's top handyman/remodeling company for handling household needs, offers customers a variety of maintenance and repair services both big and small, from gutter cleaning to room remodels. During the holidays, Larson said there are a number of ways KevLar Handyman & Home Improvements can help ensure a safe and fun season for homeowners, including:
  • Caulk or weatherstrip doors and windows to keep out the cold
  • Clean gutters and downspouts to prolong their usefulness
  • Installing shelves to organize those items lying around the house
  • Remove window AC units and cover central air conditioning units
  • Add insulation to your attic to cut heating bills
  • Check and replace all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
  • Build a toy chest where children can store their favorite holiday treasures
  • Rig holiday lights and decorations in those hard to reach places such as trees and roofs.
Getting ready for the holiday season is a wonderful but sometimes overwhelming experience because theres often so much to do. When it comes to preparing and making your home ready for holiday visitors, knowing where to start can be the hard part, Larson said. Thats why we are offering services to our customers now to make the holiday more enjoyable and less stressful."

Choose the Improvements That Add the Most Value to Your Home

Top 10 Home Improvement Tips Every Homeowner Should Know
If you were offered $100,000, no strings attached, what home improvements would you do? Chances are, a long laundry list of changes come to mind, from refinishing the hardwood floors to adding a new bathroom. Some home improvements, however, are more likely to increase your home's value  than other. Although experts say you shouldn't think of your home as an investment,  with limited home improvement funds, it's good to consider whether a project has a decent return on your investment. Check out our website www.kevlarhandymanservice.com if you are interested in more information on your home projects!!
